HSE South West has issued a reminder to festival and event attendees in Kerry to prioritise safety by making informed decisions regarding alcohol intake during summer gatherings. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the risks linked to excessive drinking, including impaired judgement, accidents, and health complications.
As part of the Caring for Kerry campaign, health officials urge individuals to reflect on their drinking habits and utilise the confidential online self-assessment tool available through the HSE. This platform offers guidance on reducing or ceasing alcohol use and connects users with support services.
Carol Mannix, Integrated Healthcare Area Service Lead, emphasised the importance of planning, knowing personal limits, and supporting one another at community events. She reassured those concerned about their alcohol consumption that assistance is accessible, encouraging them to take the first step in seeking help.
