Greystones beach festival celebrates sport and wellness
Hundreds of people enjoyed a vibrant evening of free sports, movement, and wellness activities at Greystones South Beach as part of Wicklow Outdoors Week 2026. The third annual Greystones Beach Festival brought together participants of all ages to try activities such as sea swimming, beach volleyball, yoga, and Pilates in a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.

Organised by the Wicklow Sports and Recreation Partnership (WSRP), the festival offered a packed programme featuring sailing, beach golf, beach hockey, tug-of-war, and more, highlighting the diverse sporting opportunities along Wicklow’s stunning coastline. Alongside the sports, a dedicated wellness zone, developed in partnership with Greystones Wellness Hub, provided sessions in breathwork and a sunset sound bath, allowing attendees to relax and recharge.

The festival’s lively atmosphere was further enhanced by free face painting, sensory experiences, giant garden games, and interactive stands from local clubs and wellness providers. Live music and family entertainment created a joyous community spirit. Cllr. Dr. Caroline Winstanley, Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, praised the event for bringing people together and encouraging active lifestyles, while Chief Executive Emer O'Gorman highlighted the strong community involvement driving its success. Aisling Hubbard, WSRP coordinator, reflected on the event’s growth and the enthusiasm that fuels its continued popularity.

The Greystones Beach Festival is a highlight of Wicklow Outdoors Week, which runs from 10th to 16th August and encourages people throughout the county to embrace outdoor recreation. The WSRP expressed gratitude to all partners, volunteers, and attendees who contributed to the festival’s vibrant and positive atmosphere.
