A modern digital ultrasound reporting system is transforming maternity and gynaecology care across Irish hospitals as part of a nationwide technological upgrade. Overseen by project manager Rosaleen Shalloe, the rollout of GE HealthCare’s Viewpoint 6 platform replaces older software to align with strategic health objectives for digital care.
The sophisticated system allows clinical teams to record examinations, monitor fetal development, and assess complex pregnancies with greater precision. Enhanced data integration connects the platform directly with hospital administration systems, which significantly reduces manual data entry and ensures historical patient records remain fully accessible to medical staff.
Ten hospital sites have already completed the transition, with further installations scheduled through to 2028. Insights gained from these early deployments are currently helping to guide upcoming integrations at remaining healthcare facilities across the country.
