The Teagasc Future Beef team hosted the second session in their Maximising the Value of Every Weanling webinar series on Thursday, 15 October. This event centred on improving cattle nutrition, accelerating finishing rates, and ultimately increasing farm profitability.
Chaired by Dr. Peter Doyle of Teagasc, the webinar featured insights from Dr. Mark McGee, a researcher at Teagasc Grange; Dr. Aisling Claffey, a ruminant nutritionist with Teagasc; and Sean Power, a beef finisher from County Kilkenny. Together, they shared practical recommendations for optimising cattle performance during the winter months.
Participants learned how to align feeding rates with silage quality, enhance daily liveweight gains while reducing costs, and ensure proper housing, ventilation, and water supply.
