Padraig Fitzgerald and Enda Geoghegan have officially taken up their positions as Regional Advisory Managers within Teagasc, a decision ratified by the Authority on Wednesday, 7 October. Fitzgerald will oversee operations in Tipperary, while Geoghegan assumes responsibility for the Galway and Clare regions, leading teams dedicated to delivering essential advisory services and educational programmes to local farmers.
Both appointees bring extensive academic and professional backgrounds to their new roles. Fitzgerald, a former sustainability advisor based in Kilmallock, holds degrees from UCD and UCC, complementing his early career as a REPS planner since 2004. Geoghegan, who began with Teagasc in 2001, brings a beef farming background from Westmeath along with advanced qualifications in agri-business and rural environmental conservation from UCD and UCC.
The leadership changes follow the distinguished retirements of Donal Mullane and Pat Clarke, who previously managed the Tipperary and Galway/Clare regions respectively. Thomas Curran, Head of the Teagasc Advisory Service, expressed his gratitude for their long-standing contributions to both advisory and education sectors. He welcomed Fitzgerald and Geoghegan to the management team, highlighting their wealth of expertise as they embark on these new responsibilities.
