Plans lodged for 312 new homes at Cherry Orchard Point
Planning permission for the next phase of Cherry Orchard Point in Dublin 10 has been formally submitted, marking a significant step toward delivering over 1,150 new homes across the entire scheme. The proposal includes 312 social and starter homes, alongside retail units, landscaped public spaces and improved connectivity to surrounding neighbourhoods. Designed to foster a sustainable community, the plans feature seven apartment blocks ranging from four to ten storeys, communal amenities and a new principal access route via Barnville Park.

Pending approval, construction is slated to begin in late 2027, following the completion of the first two phases already underway. Phase 1, which began in November 2025, will deliver 708 homes, a supermarket, creche and community facilities, with residents expected to move in by 2028. Phase 2 is progressing concurrently, adding 137 new homes and additional public amenities to the growing development.

Lord Mayor of Dublin Councillor Daryl Barron emphasised the project’s role in strengthening community ties, stating, “This submission reflects the strong momentum we’ve built at Cherry Orchard Point. Through our partnership with the Land Development Agency, we’re not just delivering homes but the infrastructure and spaces that define successful neighbourhoods.” Phelim O’Neill, LDA Director of Development, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the development’s potential to provide high-quality housing in a well-connected urban location.
