Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon TD, has announced a one-week extension for farmers to confirm the accuracy of their fertiliser sales data on the National Fertiliser Database (NFD). This relates to the €46.2 million EU Fertiliser Exceptional Aid Scheme for the 2025 fertiliser year, which runs from 15 September 2024 to 14 September 2025.
The new deadline for farmers to ensure their records are correct is now Friday, 30 October 2026. Minister Heydon emphasised that the scheme aims to provide financial support without requiring additional paperwork, relying instead on existing NFD records to confirm eligibility and calculate payments. He urged all farmers to check their data to avoid any issues with receiving their payments.
Farmers who have not yet verified their information should log into MyAgFood.ie to review their sales and purchase data. If any fertiliser purchases are missing, they must contact their fertiliser merchant, who is responsible for updating sales on the NFD. Additionally, farmers not yet registered on the NFD but wishing to qualify for the scheme must register by 30 October. Full scheme terms and FAQs are available on the Department of Agriculture’s website.
