Mandatory fertiliser stock deadline approaches for Irish farmers
Irish farmers and professional agricultural operators have been reminded that the final deadline to declare their fertiliser closing stocks is fast approaching. All submissions must be completed and filed through the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine's online portal, with October 15, 2026, set as the definitive closing date for the process.

Under current regulations, any farmer holding remaining fertiliser supplies must report both the specific product type and the exact quantity held in storage. Crucially, holdings with zero stock are also legally obligated to submit a nil declaration. These closing figures account for any agricultural fertiliser physically present on holdings as of midnight on September 14, fulfilling statutory requirements under the National Fertiliser Database.

To assist operators with the filing process, the Department has published a comprehensive step-by-step guide available on its official website. Farmers, alongside their designated agricultural agents, can access the portal to review transaction history, verify herd number allocations, and ensure contractor transfers are accurately updated.
