Uisce Éireann has launched a significant upgrade programme to renew ageing water mains along Rhebogue Road and Lower Park Road in Limerick City. The project involves installing over 1.8 kilometres of new pipes designed to strengthen the water network and minimise interruptions for both residents and local businesses.
Brian McCarthy from Uisce Éireann emphasised the importance of these works, stating that replacing vulnerable pipes will curb leaks and bursts, ensuring a more dependable water supply for the community. The new infrastructure aims to support a resilient water service that meets current needs and safeguards future generations.
Construction, carried out by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd, will begin next week and include laying new service connections from the main water lines to individual property boundaries. Measures to limit disruption will be enforced, including traffic management systems that maintain access for local and emergency vehicles. The project is expected to conclude by December 2026, with further updates available through Uisce Éireann’s communication channels.
