Kildare County Council has celebrated a landmark funding announcement that will reshape the county’s towns and communities. More than €15 million has been allocated to six transformative projects under the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund (TCRIF), marking a significant step forward in urban renewal and sustainable development across Ireland.
The funding, unveiled by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne TD, includes €6 million for the refurbishment of Kildare Town Community Centre and over €4 million each for Maynooth’s Harbour Field Park and Murtagh’s Corner Project in Naas. Celbridge will benefit from €450,000 for the Donaghcomper Amenity Lands redevelopment and the Parochial House project, alongside a masterplan for Newbridge’s Central Settlement Consolidation Site. These initiatives align with the council’s broader ambition to revitalise town centres and enhance public infrastructure.
Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Cllr Tim Durkan, described the announcement as a positive milestone for communities in Celbridge, Maynooth, Kildare Town, Naas, and Newbridge. "The funding will support meaningful improvements to public amenities, creating places that are more attractive and accessible for residents and visitors alike," he said. Chief Executive Sonya Kavanagh echoed this sentiment, highlighting the transformative potential of the investment. "This support will enable us to enhance community facilities, public spaces, and town centres across the county," she added. The successful projects will now progress through detailed planning and construction phases, with works set to take place over the coming years.
