Glanua, Ireland’s leading engineering group specialising in water and environmental infrastructure, has marked a new chapter in its international journey with the official opening of its Lisbon engineering office. The relocation to a larger space comes just months after the office was established in late 2025, reflecting the rapid growth of the team based in Portugal’s capital. More than 20 engineering professionals now provide specialist design, BIM and digital delivery services to projects right across the Glanua Group, with plans to expand the team to 40 by the end of 2026.
The milestone event drew key figures including Alma Ní Choigligh, Ambassador of Ireland to Portugal, and Alberto Cisterna, Enterprise Ireland’s Director for Spain and Portugal, alongside Glanua’s leadership and local partners. The Lisbon hub is already playing a pivotal role in the company’s global network, integrating Portuguese expertise with teams in Ireland, the UK and the US to deliver enhanced solutions for clients worldwide.
Portugal’s deep engineering heritage and access to highly skilled graduates have long shaped Glanua’s success, with Portuguese professionals contributing to projects since the company’s early years. Collaborations with universities such as NOVA University Lisbon and the University of Lisbon have further strengthened these ties, ensuring a steady pipeline of talent. Glanua’s investment in Lisbon underscores the growing economic partnership between Ireland and Portugal, positioning the city as a strategic centre for sustainable engineering innovation and future growth.
