Budget 2027 provides major investment for Irish agriculture
Minister of State Niall Collins has confirmed a significant financial package for the agriculture sector as part of Budget 2027. The allocation of €108.2 million is intended to drive progress across forestry, horticulture, and farm safety, ensuring that rural businesses remain resilient while contributing to national climate and biodiversity objectives.

Forestry receives the largest portion of the funding, with €96.26 million dedicated to capital and current expenditure. This investment will support the ongoing Forestry Programme, encourage farmers to diversify their land usage, and continue the Reconstitution scheme for those affected by the 2025 storms. Furthermore, the horticulture sector is set to benefit from €9.7 million in total, which will facilitate capital investment schemes and innovation projects designed to foster a more profitable, sustainable future for local producers.

Prioritising the human element of the industry, the Minister announced €2.3 million specifically for farm safety and health initiatives. This programme will target mental health challenges and isolation within the agricultural community. Additionally, the Accelerated Capital Allowances Scheme for Farm Safety Equipment has been extended until the end of 2029, with an expanded scope that now includes adaptive equipment for farmers with disabilities. Full details on how to access these schemes will be made available on the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine official website.
