Portaferry entered the Morgan Fuels Down Senior Hurling Championship Final as overwhelming favourites and justified that tag with a commanding 2-28 to 2-17 victory against Ballygalget at Páirc Esler on Sunday.

The match marked Portaferry’s fifth consecutive Jeremiah McVeagh Cup win, reinforcing their dominance in Down hurling, while Ballygalget faced their third successive defeat in the county final. Portaferry capitalised on the advantage, with Daithi Sands and Eoghan Sands spearheading a scoring surge that extended their lead.
