Water supply has been restored to customers in Ballina and surrounding areas after an operational fault at the local water treatment facility caused significant disruption. Uisce Éireann crews worked diligently to repair the issue and gradually return water to the network throughout the day.
Despite the progress in Ballina, residents in Newport Town and neighbouring districts may continue to experience water interruptions, reduced pressure, or outages until the system fully recovers. It is anticipated that supply will be completely reinstated in Newport by tomorrow evening as treated water reservoirs refill and the network recharges.
To assist affected customers, alternative water sources remain available at designated locations, including opposite Sullivan’s Pub on Main Street and Cork Road at Glencree Housing Estate in Newport, and adjacent to the Ballina Riverside pool car park. Customers are advised to bring their own containers and boil water before consumption as a precaution. Vulnerable customers who are registered receive direct updates, and all customers can find ongoing information via Uisce Éireann’s website, social channels, or 24/7 helpline at 1800 278 278.
