South Dublin unveils Halloween safety and events guide
South Dublin County Council has released its 2026 Halloween brochure, combining essential safety advice with a full programme of family-friendly activities across the county. This vibrant guide aims to encourage safe, responsible celebrations while showcasing a variety of events hosted by local libraries, community centres, and other venues.

Among the highlights are two flagship festivals: Tallaween at Parthalán Place in Tallaght on Friday 30 October from noon to 6pm, offering puppet shows, face painting, a Monster Dance Party, magic performances, circus workshops, sensory play, retro games, and more. Following this, Spookdalkin will take place on Sunday 1 November from 12.30pm to 5.30pm at Brú Chrónáin, the Round Tower Visitor Centre in Clondalkin. This Day of the Dead-themed event features Mexican dance, comic shows, puppet performances, circus acts, and a sensory play area, promising a colourful and engaging family experience.

The brochure also outlines council initiatives aimed at protecting local parks from damage caused by illegal bonfires. Through the Social Credits Scheme, communities organising safe and environmentally friendly Halloween activities can earn spring flower bulbs as rewards. Successful applicants will additionally receive free passes to Ballymount Civic Amenity Centre, valid from 16 October until 21 November 2026, to facilitate responsible waste disposal. Mayor Cllr Francis Timmons emphasised the importance of celebrating safely, discouraging illegal bonfires and fireworks due to their risks and impact on emergency services, vulnerable individuals, and animals. Residents are encouraged to participate in the diverse events and help ensure Halloween remains a safe and enjoyable occasion for all.
