MarathonKids Ireland officially launched its 2026 programme at Morton Stadium, uniting primary schools across Fingal County Council and Dublin City Council for an eight‑week journey that blends running, jogging and walking with lessons on health and wellbeing.
The event was attended by representatives from both councils’ sports offices and Deputy Mayor of Fingal, Councillor Luke Corkery, who praised the initiative for encouraging active habits and teamwork among children. Seán Ó Riain, founder of MarathonKids Ireland, said the programme offers a practical, engaging way for teachers to embed physical activity, nutrition and mental health into the school day.
Each student will receive a MarathonKids Ireland workbook, a T‑shirt and a medal upon completion, and the programme will culminate in the MarathonKids Final Mile at Morton Stadium on Wednesday 18 November 2026, where pupils from all participating schools will celebrate their achievements together.
