Nenagh water network to undergo key upgrades
Uisce Éireann has announced plans to upgrade the water supply system in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, by replacing 1.5 kilometres of ageing and damaged water mains. These works are designed to strengthen the local network, curtail leaks and bursts, and minimise supply interruptions affecting homes and businesses across the town.

The replacement pipes will not only reduce water loss but also increase the network's capacity, supporting anticipated future growth in the area. The project will be carried out in two phases: the first along the R497 from the Borrisokane Road roundabout to Mulrooney’s Gala and service station, and the second from Nenagh College along Dromin Road to the N52 crossroads. Work is scheduled to begin in September and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Dave Murphy of Uisce Éireann highlighted that the upgrades aim to provide a dependable water supply for the community. Customers can contact Uisce Éireann on 1800 278 278 for enquiries or visit the Water Supply Updates section of their website for ongoing information. Additionally, residents can subscribe to a free text service to receive alerts about water outages and works in their area. These improvements form part of a wider National Leakage Reduction Programme, which has already reduced water loss across Ireland from 49% in 2014 to 36% today.
