National tax receipts reached €78.9 billion by the end of September, marking a notable increase of €7.6 billion compared to the same period last year. Income tax and VAT figures both showed steady growth, underpinned by a resilient domestic economy that has sustained a lengthy period of full employment.
Corporation tax collections saw a sharp rise of €4.9 billion during September, largely driven by a scheduling quirk that temporarily inflated the monthly tally. Government leaders noted that this specific uplift will balance out in the remaining months, though cumulative returns remain comfortably ahead of initial projections.
Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Simon Harris and Minister for Public Expenditure Jack Chambers emphasised that the healthy fiscal position enables continued investment in public services. Officials outlined that upcoming budgetary measures will focus on infrastructure delivery, reward work, and prioritise administrative efficiency.
