Have your say on local property tax rates
Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has opened a consultation inviting the public to share their views on the Local Property Tax (LPT) rate for 2027. Each year, the Council may adjust the LPT rate by reducing it by up to 15%, increasing it by up to 25%, or maintaining the current rate, known as the Local Adjustment Factor.

In 2025, councillors chose to reduce the LPT rate by 15%, which resulted in a €10.4 million decrease in funding for 2026. Should the same reduction occur again, the Council anticipates a similar shortfall in income for 2027. Revenues from LPT are crucial in supporting everyday services such as parks, roads, footpaths, cycleways, libraries, housing, community facilities, and environmental initiatives throughout the county.

The Council encourages residents, property owners, businesses, and community groups to participate in this consultation, which will run from 31 July to 4 September 2026. Feedback received will be compiled into a report to inform councillors' decision-making at their meeting on 12 October 2026. Further details and submissions can be made via the official Council website.
