Cork farmer triumphs with prestigious European organic award
A County Cork agricultural trailblazer has brought home top honours from the 2026 EU Organic Awards, held in Brussels. Kay O'Sullivan, who farms in Mourneabbey, was named Best Organic Farmer (Female) in recognition of her outstanding technical performance, meticulous grassland management, and dedication to sharing her expertise.

Participating in both the Teagasc Future Beef and Signpost programmes, Kay has consistently pushed the boundaries of sustainable suckler beef production. Her enterprise boasts remarkable metrics, including a 363-day calving interval, zero calf mortality, and impressive finishing ages that reflect a masterclass in breeding and animal health.

Beyond her own farm gates, Kay remains a passionate advocate for the sector, generously opening her land to hundreds of visitors and collaborating closely with agricultural advisors. Further details regarding her award-winning system are available on the official Teagasc website.
