Culture Night Late 2026 was energised by an investment exceeding €260,000, fostering a vibrant array of free late-night cultural events throughout Ireland on Friday, 18 September. This initiative, embedded within the wider Culture Night programme, offered audiences an opportunity to immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of nightlife art forms, including music, dance, visual arts, spoken word, and innovative use of public spaces after hours.

Funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport and supported by the Arts Council, Culture Night Late aligns with the National Night-Time Economy Taskforce’s vision to broaden cultural access and invigorate the evening economy. Events unfolded across nine pilot locations—Buncrana, Longford, Sligo, Drogheda, Kilkenny, Galway, Limerick, Cork, and Dublin—each showcasing distinctive artistic ambition and community engagement.

Highlights included Dublin’s Soul Juice live improvisations; Cork’s immersive theatre inspired by Jimmy Gralton’s historic dance halls; Drogheda’s eclectic Night Moves with techno DJ Sunil Sharpe; Kilkenny’s Watergate Urban Park Block Party featuring DJ Nialler9; Sligo’s Minor Disturbance electronic and visual arts event; Limerick’s street dance celebration Top 8; Galway’s 8 Bits of Galway 3D mapping on Lynch’s Castle; Buncrana’s vibrant Culture Night Trail; and Longford’s St. John’s Sessions with Steve Wickham. The programme reflected a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and artistic innovation, inviting audiences to rediscover their surroundings through culture after dark.
