Artists explore alternative infrastructures in Clondalkin
On Saturday 29 August 2026, North Clondalkin Library was the vibrant setting for 'Another Infrastructure (AI): art, environment, data centres & us', a one-day event organised by the artist collective Drop Table in collaboration with South Dublin County Council’s Arts Office. The gathering featured a variety of talks, workshops, artworks, and food, attracting a full house with engaged attendees keen to explore alternative forms of infrastructure.

Drop Table, led by Shane Finan and comprising artists Alisha Doody, Dasha Ilina, Heather Griffin, Patrick Mulvihill, Paul O’Neill, Amy Bunce, and Cían Flynn, are creating projects that reimagine infrastructure beyond conventional systems. Their work addresses small-scale data servers, care networks, distributed money systems, LGBTQIA+ experiences through games, and local food systems. The event included a panel discussion on community-led infrastructure, opened by South Dublin Mayor Francis Timmons, highlighting the importance of collaborative and sustainable approaches.

The artists have been developing their projects as part of South Dublin County Council’s IN CONTEXT Public Art programme, working out of North Clondalkin Library. In the coming weeks, they will host further workshops, including sessions with the Women’s Collective Ronanstown, teenagers at Ronanstown Youth Service, and continued game-making activities for the LGBT+ community. These efforts will culminate in an exhibition and event at the library in early 2027. For more details, visit the official Drop Table project site or contact Shane Finan or Richie O’Sullivan at South Dublin County Council’s Arts Office.
