Culture Night 2026 will return on Friday 18 September, inviting people across Ireland to experience the nation’s heritage in a fresh and inspiring way. Organised by the Arts Council, the event sees numerous OPW heritage sites open later than usual, hosting a variety of free cultural activities that highlight Ireland’s history and creativity.
Visitors can immerse themselves in diverse experiences, such as the poignant tribute at Ormond Castle in Tipperary honouring 34 women transported to Australia in the nineteenth century. Music lovers will enjoy performances by the Banshee Brass Quintet at the Main Guard in Clonmel, as well as traditional Irish melodies from Dean and Brandon Griffin at Ross Castle, Kerry. For those drawn to nature and storytelling, an evening meadow walk near Derrynane House retracing Ellen Fitz-Simon’s poetic steps offers a serene retreat.
