New bus services to boost Galway route 424
The National Transport Authority (NTA), collaborating with Bus Éireann, is set to enhance Route 424 with further services running from 1 November. This route serves Galway City, Bearna, An Spidéal, and An Cheathrú Rua, and the expansion aims to address growing passenger numbers and capacity challenges, particularly during busy periods.

Building on improvements introduced on 27 September, which included a new morning service from An Spidéal to Galway and an additional evening journey from Galway to An Spidéal, the NTA is now adding several weekday trips. These new services will increase frequency and offer better travel options, especially at peak times.

John Nott, Head of Public Transport Services Planning at the NTA, remarked that the enhancements would help alleviate pressure on Route 424 users by providing greater capacity. Full timetables will be accessible on the Transport for Ireland and Bus Éireann websites before the changes come into effect. Key additions include morning trips at 07:00, 07:45, 08:30, and 09:00 between Galway Ceannt Station and Bearna, as well as evening services starting from 16:15 through to 19:10 covering Galway, Bearna, and An Cheathrú Rua.
