Éire Óg clinch historic Clare three-peat
Éire Óg, Ennis, sealed an extraordinary three consecutive Clare Senior Football Championship titles with a commanding 2-15 to 1-10 victory over Kilmurry Ibrickane at Zimmer Biomet Páirc Chíosóg. Their unbeaten championship streak extended to 18 matches, making them the first Clare club to achieve a three-in-a-row since Kilrush Shamrocks’ legendary run from 1975 to 1979.

From the outset, Éire Óg asserted their dominance, led by top scorer Mark McInerney who contributed a goal and six points, including two frees. Despite early goal chances from Kilmurry Ibrickane, Éire Óg’s goalkeeper Bernard Power and defender Manus Doherty thwarted their efforts. The Ennis side steadily built a significant lead, with key scores from Ronan Lanigan, Ciaran Russell, Ikem Ugwueru, and Darren O’Brien.

Although Kilmurry Ibrickane introduced experienced players like Aidan McCarthy and Shane Hickey at halftime to spark a revival, Éire Óg maintained control, extending their lead and responding swiftly to any Kilmurry scores. The match concluded with a decisive goal from teenager Darren Moroney, symbolising Éire Óg’s rising talent and ambition as they look ahead to challenging for Munster honours next. The victory was overseen by referee Fergal O’Brien and witnessed by over 4,200 passionate supporters.
