St Brigid's clinch Roscommon SFC after extra-time thriller
The Roscommon senior football final delivered a pulsating encounter at Dr Hyde Park, where St Brigid's emerged triumphant against Pádraig Pearses after an intense 80 minutes plus extra-time. Despite Pearses’ early cohesion and scoring bursts, it was the reigning champions who showed greater resilience in the closing stages.

Ben O’Carroll, Conor Hand, and Brian Stack impressed throughout, helping St Brigid's to a narrow half-time lead of 0-9 to 0-8. Pearses responded strongly, with Eoin Colleran’s early two-pointers keeping them competitive. A pivotal moment arrived when Pearse Frost executed a full-length diving block to deny a Paul Carey goal, sparking a momentum swing that saw St Brigid's score seven unanswered points.

The second half remained fiercely contested, with Pearses briefly taking a two-point lead. However, St Brigid's fought back, aided by substitute Eddie Nolan’s impactful return from injury. After conceding a scrappy goal to David Murray, St Brigid’s regained control, moving two points clear before Pearses levelled dramatically in stoppage time through Tom Butler. Extra-time belonged to St Brigid’s, with contributions from Charlie O’Carroll, Frost, and Stack ensuring Declan Kenny’s penalty goal for Pearses was insufficient to prevent a St Brigid’s victory.
