Paudie Clifford proud as Fossa reach Kerry senior ranks
Paudie Clifford’s extensive experience in adult football has imparted invaluable lessons, but nothing compares to the pride he feels as Fossa prepares to compete at senior level in Kerry next year.

After Kerry’s defeat in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final, Clifford turned his focus to Fossa’s recent triumph in the county intermediate title. Attention then shifted to East Kerry, who faced defeat in the senior championship recently. Looking ahead, Fossa is set to contest the AIB Munster Club Intermediate Football Championship semi-final on 22 November.

"You take on each challenge as it comes," Clifford explains. "We put everything into winning the intermediate title, both mentally and physically. Now, we have about five weeks to recover and build ourselves back up for the Munster semi-final. Hopefully, we’ll be ready to peak again on the 22nd."

Clifford marvels at the club’s rapid rise: "When I started playing around 2013 in Division Five and Novice, it was hard to imagine we’d be a senior team within 11 or 12 years. After an early heavy defeat to Templenoe, who had already begun a similar journey, it seemed a distant dream."

He pays tribute to the many who contributed to this success, including former players like Gene Moriarty. "A lot of people have done tremendous work over the years. It’s fantastic to see Fossa reach this level—it’s a proud moment for the parish and all the families involved."
