New grant system for community sports funding launches soon
A brand new grant management system known as SPRAOI will officially go live on Monday, 28 September, according to an announcement made by Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD alongside Minister of State for Sport and Postal Policy Charlie McConalogue TD. The Community Sport Facilities Fund serves as the central mechanism for the Government to invest in grassroots sports infrastructure and equipment across the country, supporting voluntary clubs, community groups, and local authorities.

Clubs and organisations that have not previously registered with the Department will be able to set up their accounts on the SPRAOI platform from the launch date. Meanwhile, groups that were already registered on the older OSCAR system have had their details automatically migrated, though organisers advise them to verify their information for accuracy. Further details regarding the upcoming funding scheme will be formally unveiled by the Ministers in the coming days.

First-time applicants are encouraged to check their status online by visiting the official website, while those requiring specific assistance can reach out via email to the dedicated support team at [email protected]. Additional background information regarding the programme and previous funding allocations remains available on the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport portal.
