Naas clinch historic eighth consecutive title
Naas achieved a remarkable feat by winning their eighth successive UPMC Kildare Senior Hurling Championship, sealing the victory with two rapid goals in the final minute. Brian Byrne and substitute Fionn Maher struck in quick succession to firmly establish Naas’s dominance and ensure the county town side retained their title.

Managed by Clare hurling legend Ollie Baker, Maynooth entered their fourth final in five years with determination and initially set the pace, scoring the first five points in the opening five minutes. Despite their early burst, both teams struggled with accuracy, combining for 30 wides, and Maynooth endured a lengthy scoreless period exceeding 15 minutes during the first half. Nevertheless, Baker’s men led 0-7 to 0-5 at halftime.

The second half saw Naas quickly erase the deficit through Jack Sheridan’s points before Maynooth briefly regained the lead thanks to a fine Tom Power score. The turning point came when Cathal Dowling dispossessed Maynooth keeper Sean Bean to net a crucial goal, putting Naas ahead for the first time. Maynooth fought valiantly for an equaliser, but late goals from Byrne and Maher sealed a 3-13 to 0-11 victory for Naas. This unprecedented eight-in-a-row underscores Naas’s status as Kildare’s pre-eminent hurling force as they now prepare to compete in the Leinster Senior Club Hurling Championship.
