Loughmore-Castleiney claim fourth Tipperary crown
Loughmore-Castleiney triumphed in a fiercely contested Tipperary Senior Football Championship final, edging out Clonmel Commercials by two points at FBD Semple Stadium. Their 0-15 to 0-13 victory marked their 17th county football title and a fourth in just three seasons, underscoring their dominance in the competition.

The match was a fitting tribute to the late Tipperary football manager Philly Ryan, whose wife Anna presented the inaugural Philly Ryan Cup to Brian McGrath. With GAA president Jarlath Burns in attendance, the occasion held deep significance, coinciding with the first anniversary of Ryan’s passing. Liam McGrath starred with a personal tally of 0-7 and was deservedly named man of the match, while his brother Noel added a remarkable 11th senior medal to his collection.

The game itself was a gripping battle between two great rivals, with Loughmore-Castleiney securing their third consecutive final win over Commercials. After a bright start by Clonmel, Loughmore’s resilience shone through, particularly in the closing stages when crucial scores from Joey Quinn and John McGrath sealed the win. Looking ahead, Loughmore-Castleiney will face the Cork champions, either Nemo Rangers or St Finbarr’s, in the Munster quarter-final scheduled for Sunday, 8 November, while several Commercials players will compete in the Munster intermediate hurling campaign with St Mary’s.
