Carnew Emmets defend Wicklow senior hurling title in style
Carnew Emmets successfully defended their Wicklow senior hurling championship crown following a hard-fought three-point win over Glenealy at Echelon Park in Aughrim. Benefiting from a slight breeze in the opening half, the blue and gold faithful established a four-point lead by the interval, moving 0-10 to 0-6 ahead after an entertaining and evenly contested first thirty minutes. Michael Óg O'Neill kept Glenealy in touch with four scores before the break, whilst Tommy Collins and Daniel Redmond combined brilliantly for one of the highlights of the half.

The second half remained finely poised as both sides traded scores in a tense battle, with Padraig Doran proving particularly influential for the reigning champions both in general play and from placed balls. Although Glenealy fought tenaciously to find a way back into the contest, Carnew's defence stood firm under intense pressure to preserve their narrow advantage until the final whistle.

Padraig Doran and Eoin Kavanagh led the scoring for the victors with four points apiece, while O'Neill finished as Glenealy's top scorer with seven points. Referee Christopher Canavan oversaw the encounter, which ultimately culminated in Carnew Emmets deservedly claiming their 21st senior county title.
