Teagasc Launches Sustainable Farming Course
Teagasc will open its QQI Level 6 Course in Sustainable Farming in the Environment on 15 October 2026, inviting farmers, advisers and agri‑business staff to explore how modern technology can cut emissions and enhance productivity. The programme, developed in partnership with the Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board, will run for six face‑to‑face days across three research centres, combining classroom learning with farm visits.

Participants will analyse farm‑related emissions, experiment with reduction technologies and craft a sustainability plan using the AgNav online tool. The course will also cover biodiversity and water‑quality measures, encouraging a practical, research‑driven approach that supports both profitability and environmental stewardship.

Mark Plunkett, Teagasc Course Coordinator, welcomed the return of the course, noting it offers a “fantastic opportunity for agri‑professionals and farmers to learn from Ireland’s top experts in farm sustainability in an interactive and practical way.” Successful students will earn the QQI Level 6 Component Award (6N20463). Eligible applicants—those holding a suitable agricultural qualification or Level 6 Certificate with three years of experience—can receive 70 % funding, reducing the fee to €350. Further details and applications are available on the official website. For enquiries, contact Teagasc ConnectEd at [email protected] or 059 918 3510.
