Students urged to design sustainable fashion now
A vibrant celebration of creativity and sustainability is calling on students aged 12 to 18 to reimagine the future of fashion. The Relove Fashion Competition 2026, now in its eighth year, invites young designers to craft original outfits from upcycled materials while learning the vital skills of repair and repurposing. With the planet’s wellbeing at its core, the programme empowers the next generation to challenge fast fashion and embrace mindful consumption.

South Dublin County Council proudly backs this inspiring initiative, providing free entry and a wealth of resources to schools and youth groups nationwide. Participants will gain hands-on experience in textile techniques, access curriculum-linked lesson guides, and connect their learning across subjects from art and home economics to geography and climate action. Registration remains open until 30 September, offering a golden opportunity to secure a brand-new sewing machine for the winning school or group.

Beyond the creative challenge, the competition fosters a deeper understanding of sustainable practices and their real-world impact. Teachers are supported through a dedicated hub packed with tools and guidance, ensuring every classroom can weave environmental responsibility into daily lessons.
