A major Garda operation unfolded across south and west Dublin this morning after officers executed search warrants at eleven residential addresses. Six males, aged from their twenties to fifties, were arrested and detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. The arrests follow a drugs-related intimidation campaign that investigators believe culminated in false imprisonment and assault causing harm to a male victim in early September.
The operation was spearheaded by the Serious Crime Unit in DMR South, with critical support from specialist units including the Emergency Response Unit, Armed Support Unit, and frontline uniform Gardaí. Technical examinations are now underway on electronic devices seized during the searches, which are expected to yield further evidence in the ongoing investigation.
An Garda Síochána is urging anyone who has experienced drug-related intimidation to come forward immediately. The force operates a dedicated Drug Related Intimidation Reporting Programme, managed in partnership with DRIVE, an interagency initiative backed by the Department of Health. Nominated inspectors nationwide are available to provide confidential advice and support to those affected.
