New advisory group formed for Carlow College campus
Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless, has announced the formation of a new advisory group tasked with shaping the future of the Carlow College, St Patrick's campus. This initiative, supported by the South East Technological University (SETU), aims to secure a sustainable and vibrant role for the site, ensuring it continues to meet the educational and economic requirements of the South East region for years to come.

Former Minister for Education Noel Dempsey has been appointed to chair the group, which will comprise representatives from SETU, Carlow County Council, and the Kilkenny and Carlow Education and Training Board. The committee is set to evaluate various opportunities to maximise the campus's contribution to lifelong learning, innovation, and community development. Furthermore, efforts are currently underway to assist St Leo's School with its own future campus planning requirements.

SETU, which is designated as the future owner of the facility, will play a central role in the development of a long-term masterplan following the completion of the current teach-out period in August 2028. President of SETU, Dr Veronica Campbell, has welcomed the announcement, noting that the university looks forward to contributing to the group's work. The Department of Further and Higher Education is providing funding to support this transition, safeguarding the site's educational purpose for future generations.
