Kildare County Council has announced an exciting line-up of activities for Climate Fortnight 2026, running from Saturday 17 October to Saturday 31 October. The event series is designed to encourage sustainable practices, responsible consumption, and energy efficiency throughout the county.

The programme features a variety of engaging events hosted in local libraries, including clothing upcycling and repair workshops, a panel discussion on community adaptation, a climate writing workshop, and an energy information pop-up titled "Solas and Savings." Among the highlights is a Halloween Fun Fest, adding a festive touch to the environmental focus.

Additionally, two screenings of the UK-produced climate advocacy film "People’s Emergency Briefing" will take place at the Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge on Tuesday 20 October and at the Clanard Court Hotel in Athy on Thursday 29 October, both starting at 7pm. Paula O’Rourke, Climate Action Coordinator at Kildare County Council, emphasised the importance of everyday choices in shaping a sustainable future. Further details and booking information for all events are accessible via the Kildare Library Service and the Council’s Climate Action webpages.
