HSE rolls out winter vaccination programme in Tipperary South
The Health Service Executive has officially launched its 2026-2027 winter vaccination initiative in Tipperary South, aiming to bolster public immunity against circulating respiratory viruses. This proactive measure follows a challenging previous season that saw thousands of hospital admissions and significant pressure on intensive care units across the country.

Priority groups for the dual vaccination programme include those aged 60 and over, individuals with chronic medical conditions, and those with compromised immune systems. Furthermore, the programme emphasises the importance of the flu vaccine for pregnant women, healthcare personnel, and children aged between 2 and 17 years. These vaccines are provided free of charge, with the convenience of receiving both injections during a single clinical appointment.

Access to the programme is facilitated through participating general practitioners and local pharmacies, while dedicated teams will manage vaccinations for nursing home residents and housebound individuals. Dr Carmel Mullaney, Regional Director of Public Health, has urged all eligible members of the community to prioritise their health by availing of these services. Further details regarding eligibility and clinic locations are available on the official HSE website.
