Celebrating new mental health nurses in Waterford ceremony
A proud milestone was celebrated this week in Waterford as forty-one nursing students marked the successful conclusion of their honours degree in psychiatric nursing from South East Technological University. Family and friends gathered at the Granville Hotel to witness the graduates receive their clinical practice qualifications following four years of intensive education and hands-on experience.

The comprehensive programme combined academic learning with eighty weeks of practical clinical placements across mental health services in Carlow, Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Waterford, and Wexford. Following a demanding thirty-six week continuous internship with the Health Service Executive, the newly qualified professionals will register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.

Speakers at the celebratory event highlighted the vital role that specialist mental health nurses play within communities across the country. Attendees also partook in a traditional blessing of the hands ceremony and recited the nurses pledge, setting a compassionate tone for their upcoming careers in healthcare.
