A vital community initiative aimed at safeguarding young people and vulnerable residents across County Cavan has secured €50,000 in funding to tackle the rising tide of digital harassment. Overseen by the Cavan Local Community Safety Partnership with An Garda Síochána acting as the lead agency, the project addresses pressing concerns raised by educators and youth leaders regarding modern online harms.
The initiative will roll out a series of Garda-led educational workshops focusing on Coco’s Law, digital consent, and responsible online behavior. Schools, youth organisations, and community groups will receive practical toolkits, clear guidance on reporting mechanisms, and comprehensive resources designed to foster safer digital environments throughout the county.
A dedicated working group comprising representatives from Tusla, the HSE, the ISPCC, and the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board has been established to steer the rollout. Further details on upcoming workshops and awareness campaigns will be available on the official website of Cavan County Council.
