A landmark moment for Carbury took place today as Kildare County Council finalised the contract with Showglade Ltd to lead the Trinity Way housing project. The initiative will breathe new life into the former HSE Dispensary site, delivering five affordable homes through a blend of refurbishment and new construction. Scheduled for completion in 2027, the development will address pressing local housing needs while honouring the site’s heritage.
The ambitious project, designed by Desiun Architects, brings together a skilled consortium including CORA Consulting Engineers, OCSC Consulting Engineers, Bolger Quantity Surveyors and Cunnane Stratton Reynolds. Works will transform the existing dispensary building into a single dwelling while adding four new terraced social housing units to the streetscape. Funding secured through the Social Housing Investment Programme, administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, ensures the scheme’s viability.
Councillor Tim Durkan, Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, described the contract signing as a welcome milestone for the community. “This project will restore the former dispensary to productive use and deliver vital homes for Carbury,” he remarked. Sonya Kavanagh, Chief Executive, highlighted the council’s commitment to high-quality social housing across Kildare. Showglade Ltd’s Managing Director, James Gilna, added that the partnership reflects a shared dedication to creating sustainable, long-term housing solutions for the area.
