An inspiring collaborative project has placed Irish agricultural innovation on the global stage after capturing third place at the international Good Interventions 2026 Design Competition. Organised by the esteemed Parsons School of Design in New York, the initiative known as SeedLoop triumphed over numerous global entries to earn international acclaim.
The winning concept emerged from a dynamic partnership between the Mid-West Bio-District and the Digital Futures Lab at the University of Limerick’s Kemmy Business School. Designed to tackle the hurdles smaller organic growers face in sourcing reliable seed and preserving heritage varieties, the proposed digital cooperative network introduces seed passports and regional search tools to boost agricultural resilience.
Following its official announcement at the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, Tullamore, the triumphant project will be showcased in an upcoming digital exhibition and featured at an award ceremony in New York. Stakeholders will now proceed to engage with agricultural advisors and growers to test the framework for a potential regional pilot scheme.
