Uisce Éireann has launched a vital upgrade to the water infrastructure in Portlaw, replacing ageing and damaged water mains to secure a dependable supply for residents. The works cover the stretch from Darrigal to Poldrew Bridge, where 900 metres of modern pipes are being installed to reinforce and future-proof the local network.
Dave Murphy, Portfolio Manager at Uisce Éireann, welcomed the initiative, emphasising its long-term benefits: "Each pipe replaced is a step towards a water supply that people can truly rely on. This upgrade will reduce leakage and provide the community with greater confidence in their water service for many years ahead."
The project, undertaken by Shareridge on behalf of Uisce Éireann, began in early August and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
