FORADVISE is a significant Horizon Europe initiative designed to establish a comprehensive forestry advisory network spanning Europe. Its mission is to bolster the delivery of forestry advice by promoting the exchange of knowledge, best practices, digital tools, and peer collaboration among stakeholders.
The project, active from 2025 to 2029 and coordinated by the European Forest Institute, unites 32 partners across 18 countries, while extending its reach to 27 nations through collaborations. In Ireland, Teagasc serves as the National Contact Point, coordinating activities and supporting counterparts across Europe.
Since its inception, FORADVISE has formed thematic working groups addressing six priority forestry areas identified during national workshops. These include challenges such as managing windblow damage, pest control, and forest certification for smaller holdings. Moving forward, the project will deliver monthly webinars, publish factsheets, and host annual national workshops to share resources and expertise. Knowledge transfer pilots are underway, including a collaboration between Teagasc and Slovakia’s National Forest Centre to replicate successful timber marketing events. For more details, contact Mireille Ginesy at [email protected] or Tom Houlihan at [email protected].
