Luas Stories introduces a captivating collection of illustrations celebrating the tram system’s contribution to Dublin’s connectivity and urban life. Inspired by the Luas Benefits Report, these artworks bring to light intriguing facts about the network’s kilometres travelled, zero street-level emissions, community links, and integration with the wider Transport for Ireland (TFI) public transport system.
Crafted by Cork illustrators Roger Overall and his daughter Emily, who run the storytelling studio Show and Tell, this campaign is a collaboration between Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Luas (Transdev), and the National Transport Authority. Passengers can expect to see these engaging posters across the network in coming months, offering fresh perspectives on Luas’s significance.
Since its inception in 2004, Luas has expanded extensively, with the Red and Green Lines connecting key areas such as Tallaght, Connolly Station, The Point, and Brides Glen. Passenger numbers have surged by over 50% in the last decade, reaching 55 million in 2025. The trams covered more than 4.4 million kilometres last year alone — equivalent to travelling eleven times the distance from Earth to the Moon. Powered by electricity, Luas produces zero emissions at street level, making it an environmentally friendly choice that helps reduce thousands of car journeys daily. Beyond transport, Luas supports Dublin’s economic growth, linking employment hubs, educational institutions, cultural venues, and recreational spaces, while fostering a strong sense of community across the city.
