KeolisAmey Luas has officially commenced its operation and maintenance responsibilities for Dublin's iconic Luas light rail network, signalling a new era for one of Ireland’s most recognised public transport services. After months of preparation and coordination with staff, stakeholders, and the previous operator, KeolisAmey has taken over on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and the National Transport Authority (NTA).
Combining the global expertise of Keolis, a leading public transport operator, and Amey, a prominent infrastructure consultancy and operations partner, KeolisAmey aims to build upon the Luas’s solid foundation. Their plans include introducing enhanced services, implementing proven operational and maintenance procedures, utilising remote monitoring technology, and initiating a programme of network improvements to boost reliability, resilience, and overall passenger experience.
The Luas system plays a crucial role in connecting Dublin communities, promoting economic growth, and supporting the city’s sustainability goals by carrying over 165,000 passengers daily. Leaders from KeolisAmey and partner organisations have expressed commitment to maintaining the high standards of safety and customer service while preparing the network for future expansion. Close cooperation with TII, NTA, employees, and trade unions will continue to ensure a safe, accessible, and customer-focused service as the network evolves.
