O'Shea praises Ireland's valiant display in shinty clash
Eamon O'Shea, having concluded his role as Ireland manager following a gripping shinty-hurling international, found himself intently following another match on his phone in the tunnel of SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. His son, Dónal O'Shea, was competing for Cuala in the Dublin Senior Hurling Championship final, and Eamon was keen to catch the final 25 minutes.

Although results were not favourable for O'Shea at either venue, the Tipperary native expressed deep pride in the Irish squad's determination during their narrow 4-12 to 2-17 loss. "While I'm disappointed, the effort was heroic from the players," he remarked, emphasising the challenge of limited preparation with only two training sessions before the game.

O'Shea stressed the importance of the team's spirit, noting it was the key factor that kept them competitive until the very end. "We just lost out in the end by a point," he said. He also acknowledged the quality of the opposition, praising their performance in securing the close victory, and celebrated the tremendous engagement from all players involved.
