The 2026 PwC Football All-Star team was announced today, with Mayo standing out as the dominant county by claiming six of the coveted fifteen places. This marks the first time since 2010 that the All-Star team represents such a broad spread across eight different counties, underscoring the competitive depth in Gaelic football this season.
Mayo’s triumphant year, culminating in their first All-Ireland title in 75 years, is reflected in their selection of key players including steadfast defenders Sam Callinan and Enda Hession, alongside promising forwards Darragh Beirne and Kobe McDonald. Footballer of the Year contenders Jack Carney and Ryan O’Donoghue also feature prominently, cementing Mayo’s status at the summit of the sport.
Kerry, despite falling short in the final, secured three places with David Clifford earning his seventh All-Star, equalling Mikey Sheehy’s tally. Other counties like Westmeath, Louth, Armagh, Tyrone, Dublin, and Monaghan also had representatives, showcasing the nationwide strength of the game. The awards ceremony will take place tomorrow evening in Dublin’s RDS, with live coverage on RTÉ 1 from 7.30pm and a digital red carpet preshow available on the GAA’s YouTube channel from 6pm.
