Ministers unveil 2026 fund for disability advocacy
The Minister for Children, Disability and Equality, Norma Foley, alongside Minister of State Emer Higgins, has announced the successful recipients of the 2026 Power to Participate: Strengthening Stakeholder Engagement Fund.

This fund, established by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality, allocates up to €750,000 to Disabled Persons' Organisations (DPOs) and civil society groups championing the rights of disabled individuals. Its primary goal is to bolster these organisations' ability to engage effectively with government initiatives linked to the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030.

Minister Foley emphasised the importance of supporting organisations that amplify the voices of disabled people across Ireland, shaping policies that directly impact their lives. Minister Higgins highlighted the fund’s role in fostering a more inclusive framework for engagement, reinforcing advocacy efforts, and contributing to the strategy’s ambitions. The funded groups include grassroots organisations and national bodies representing various impairments, including intellectual disabilities, autism, deafness, and disabled women, all working to advance rights and participation in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
