Kildare County Council warmly congratulated Community Cancer Caregivers and Carbury Village Residents Association on their notable successes at the 2026 IPB Pride of Place Awards, which took place at the Convention Centre Dublin.

Community Cancer Caregivers were honoured with a special award in the Community Wellbeing Category for their compassionate support network. The group envisions a community where cancer patients no longer feel isolated but are embraced by neighbours who offer vital home care packages, particularly for families with children under 16. What began as a local initiative has blossomed into a trusted, wider support system grounded in kindness, volunteerism, and strong community spirit.

Meanwhile, Carbury Village Residents Association earned the Runner-Up prize in Category 1, representing rural areas with populations under 300. This volunteer-led organisation has transformed the village through projects such as landscaping, outdoor gym installations, a contactless water dispenser, and heritage boards that celebrate Carbury’s history. Their focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and climate action continues to unite residents and visitors alike in nurturing their community’s future.

Speaking at the ceremony, Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Cllr Tim Durkan, praised both groups for their dedication and volunteer spirit, emphasising the positive impact they have on communities throughout County Kildare. He extended gratitude to all involved for their ongoing commitment to making a difference.
