Government launches talks to resolve public sector dispute
The Government has initiated a focused effort to advance negotiations with the Irish Congress of Trade Unions concerning public sector workers. Appointments of Mr Kevin Foley, Ms Oonagh Buckley, and Mr Owen Reidy have been announced to lead this intensive dialogue, aiming to establish a foundation for formal talks at the Workplace Relations Commission.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin expressed hope that this initiative would enable all parties to engage constructively, recognising the vital role public service workers play across healthcare, social care, and education sectors. He emphasised the importance of genuine commitment to dialogue in achieving a successful resolution.

Tánaiste Simon Harris and Minister Jack Chambers also welcomed the development, highlighting the significance of public sector employees to the economy and society. Minister Chambers underlined the need for certainty for both public servants and the wider public, expressing confidence that the process will lead to meaningful negotiation and progress.
